Furniture Design – Music Chair!

Music Chair

My furniture drawing, or design, is of a music note. My drawing is a good representation of myself in a sense. I believe it would attract musicians, or people who enjoy music to the fullest extent. It would also target a younger audience, what teenager does not love music! I first came up with the idea after struggling for a while to think of something unique. I was listening to music, and the idea popped into my head. Ahhh! A music note chair, it is exactly what I would love to draw!

The round part of the music note, also known as the note head, is where someone would sit. The long part behind it, also known as the stem, would be where you would get your back support from. The rubber stoppers on the bottom of the chair, is what keeps it from rolling around and makes it stable. The flag looking piece on the back of it is the complete package of a music note. There are no arm rests, and the purpose is to give the user additional room to move, or to make themselves comfortable. It also sits lower to the ground because it is more of a lounge chair, to read a book in, or to watch your favorite television show in.

The legs of the chairs would be rubber stoppers, and are the color red to match the stitching of the chair. I would also make them scratch proof, so if you had hardwood floors or anything that scratches easy, it will not scratch up the floors. The overall frame of the chair would be wood, but a comfy fit to the chair. The fabric of the chair itself would be velvet, nice and soft to the touch. It is also an easy clean up, you can usually clean up a spill with soap and water. The colors for the velvet would be purple, blue, and red. The first color, purple, would be at the seat of the music note, gradually making its way up the stem of the chair and turning into blue.

The last color, red, would complete the flag of the chair; giving you a colorful sensation. The outline color for the chair itself is red, with a zigzag stitching pattern. For the type of comfort for the inside of the chair, I would choose memory foam stuffing. It would be very relaxed and stylish all at the same time! The flag part of the note would be made with wood frame as well, but be stuffed with a cheaper stuffing, resembling cotton.

Overall, the chair has a comfortable design and texture. It is made to sit in for hours at end to read your favorite book, or maybe you just want to accent a room in your house. The colors pop out at you, catching your eye whenever you walk into the room. I would absolutely love to have a chair like this! I am very satisfied with my drawing, and my furniture design.

Week 3 sketches!

All my sketches / shading for this week!

Some are…interesting… haha.

The lady with the long hair, and no face was what the children feared.

When I drew this, I immediately thought of a lady with no facial features. It freaked me out a little bit, but overall I enjoyed it. The Da Vinci process taught me to open my mind, and draw what I could. It was very interesting, and fun! I might try it again, and I definitely enjoyed the darker pieces.

My symbol

This is my symbol:

My symbol

The owl and anchor go hand in hand, both very strong symbols that mean a lot to me. The anchor represents strength, while the owl represents wisdom, I have both tattooed on me, so they mean a lot.

The two people to the right with the dogs, are my mom and dad. They are my biggest supporters, and my rocks to lean on when I need them the most. I’m not really sure where I would be without them today, the two most important people in my life. Of course, my dogs are fabulous!

On the top left is me and my boyfriend, ahh, young love haha. He’s supported me when no one else really did, and has always been there through thick and thin. He is very important to me, and an important part of my life was well.

The music notes and microphone go hand in hand as well. I’ve played clarinet for 7 years, and have been in a band for a year and a half. Music has always represented feelings, passion, and meanings to me. I’m always at a local show around my area supporting other bands, or playing with mine. Music has been a big part of my life, and will continue to be.

The cloud itself as the outline of the symbol represents, at least to me, my ability to dream. My ability to have my head in the clouds and be able to still focus on real life things too. It’s always nice to daydream about different things, like being a famous musician, or being a millionaire. I love that about myself.

After explaining all this, and really thinking to myself, you can tell that I am both a Quadrant C & D! I am very musical, have strong family values, and express my feelings well. I also like to live in the dreams of becoming famous through music, and am constantly daydreaming about it. I do have some quadrant A & B, but mainly I am a C & D type. Funny thing is, before I changed my major to graphic design, I was studying to become a teacher. So I fit the part of C & D very well in my opinion.

About Me!

Hey everyone!

I am a JR. here at ASU, and loving it!  After I graduate I have plans of moving up to Chattanooga, TN and starting a career up there, maybe doing freelance work, or working for a company. My favorite thing to do is, well that is a hard one. I love to watch movies with my family and boyfriend, play tennis, or play music. One interesting thing about me, I play in a metal band.
